CHILI FEST presented by Friends & Family of Plano FFA and Heritage Farmstead Museum

Friends & Family of Plano FFA is proud to partner with Heritage Farmstead Museum to host Chili Fest, a chili cook off benefitting the Plano ISD FFA students and Heritage Farmstead Museum.




Come join us at the Heritage Farmstead Museum for a family friendly fun day! Activities include a pumpkin patch (photo op and pumpkins for sale), hay ride, animals, carnival games, lawn games, decorate a pumpkin, face tattoos, music and food/drinks for sale!!


ADMISSION: $10/adult, $5/kids 5-15 yrs, <5 yrs free

Chili Cook Off Entrants

Registration Fee: $25 per team (make checks payable to Friends & Family of Plano FFA)

 Judges will vote on chili based on:

  • Aroma
  • Color
  • Consistency (not thick or thin)
  • Taste
  • Aftertaste


 Judging categories are:

  1. Best overall - First Place
  2. Second Place
  3. Third Place
  4. Showmanship
 

Official Cook Off Rules:
1.      Set up to begin at 9:30 am

2.      Cooking of chili to begin no earlier than 11:00 am on Sunday, October 22, 2017. Chili must be cooked onsite. No ingredient may be pre-cooked in any way prior to cook off. The only exceptions are canned or bottled tomatoes, tomato sauce, peppers, pepper sauce, beverages, broth, and grinding and/or mixing spices. Meat may be treated, precut or ground. Meat may NOT be pre-cooked in any manner. All other ingredients can be pre-chopped or prepared during the preparation period. Cooking during the entire cooking period is at the sole discretion of the contestant.

3.      Chili must be made from scratch; cooking begins with raw meats, vegetables and spices.

4.      Chili must be cooked in your designated area and prepared in a sanitary manner. No stove, cooking equipment or electricity will be provided. We will provide sample cups, spoons and containers for judging samples. Contestants are responsible for supplying all of their own cooking utensils, stove, propane, etc.

5.      One pint (16 oz) of chili is required to be submitted for judging.

6.      Contestants are encouraged to decorate booth/tables or cooking area.

7.      If your ingredients contain MSG or if peanut oil is used, please post warning signs.

8.      All cooking areas must have overhead covering. Chili Fest will provide pop up canopy and table unless contestant has a canopy they prefer to use.

9.      Entry deadline is October 15, 2017.

10.    Event held rain or shine. 

11.    Judging will begin at approximately 2:30 pm

Vendors

Booth Rental Fee: $50 (make checks payable to Friends & Family of Plano FFA)


Setup will be indoors inside a covered barn area. Vendors must provide their own equipment: tables, chairs, extension cords, etc. Electricity will be available--bring your own extension cords!

Set up: Begin at 9:30 am ~ Break down at 3:30 pm
