Rewarding Rings Roundup

This annual livestock show held in McKinney provides numerous service opportunities for student, parent, and faculty members as well as others interested in community service. Serving in any of these areas allows a unique opportunity to find out how things work "behind the scenes" at a stock show.

  • Sponsor recruitment
  • Food and beverage concession
  • Exhibitor registration
  • Judging coordination
  • Ring oversight
  • Vendor coordination
  • Event management (logistics)
  • More!
This year's event will be held 10/21/12 in McKinney, Texas. To volunteer, contact Julie Hughes at 469-682-0865 or jlhplano@verizon.net.

Triple R Dinner Auction

The annual dinner auction held shortly after the livestock show continues the fundraising momentum of Friends and Family, and requires significant support from members to ensure success.
  • Donation solicitation
  • Dinner ticket sales
  • Silent auction management
  • Food and beverage distribution
  • Setup and cleanup
  • Live auction preparation
  • More!
This year's event will be held 11/12/11 at the Haggard Party Barn in Plano, TX. To volunteer or donate auction items, contact Kristina Stacey at 214-762-1725.

Fundraising

These two events are the primary fundraising efforts of organization; however, fundraising is a never-ending job, and the shared responsibility of every member of Friends and Family of Plano FFA. While a lot of people think fundraising is difficult because of the "asking" part, it can be much easier if you understand a few basic principles. Often, time is spent on execution that yields disappointing results, when an investment of time in more effective planning would yield a better return. Each member can help with things like:
  • Letting the board know about any significant business contacts that might be interested in cash or in-kind (goods or services) donations
  • Using the goods or services of your own company for the benefit of Friends and Family
  • Donating frequent flyer miles/points or other "valuable freebies" for sale at auction
  • Asking the vendors you regularly patronize to donate items for the silent auction
  • Promoting the Rewarding Rings Roundup and Triple R Auction through your own social networks (social media, church bulletins, etc.)
  • Volunteer at one or both events - Each event yields significant funds that could not be raised without an investment of manpower. You may think you're just helping people park, but you're fundraising!
To volunteer, contact Julie Hughes.

Support

This is a corporation, and as such, requires daily feed and watering. While the Board of Directors sets the strategic direction and determines the annual operating plan, the varied skill sets of our members can help in many support functions:
  • Finance
  • Membership Services
  • Content Management (via Google Apps)
To volunteer, contact Julie Hughes.
